Augustin Dumay performs Alban Berg’s compelling Violin Concerto ‘To the memory of an angel’ with the Brussels Philharmonic under the baton of Chief Conductor Stéphane Denève. The Concerto is a sort of requiem for Manon Gropius, the daughter of Alma Mahler and Berg’s good friend Walter Gropius, whom Alma married after Mahler’s death. The girl died of polio at the age of 18.
